Today was a big day in this project. We tested our mid-scale model. Well it could have been a great day, but unfortunately the boogie didn't happen. There were two important design flaws. First of all the width-height ratio was completely wrong and it caused severe lack of stability. The second flaw was the vast amount of buoyancy. The diver simply didn't dive. The positive thing is that we learned these facts now before making the big models. I think that tackling those issues will bring us back to the highway to victory =)
Another good thing was that the integrity of the structure was as good as I expected. There wasn't any fractures, yielding or buckling related surprises. There was some errors in quality of manufacture which caused some parts to destroy. But they are not difficult to fix.
Over all it was a day with great emotions, a bit on the low side, but it is nice to reach new milestones. Minor set backs happens, it just matter of recovering.
